Probably the best gumbo I’ve had. This place definitely knows it’s southern comfort food. If it had a marketing person and a name change, there would likely be a line around the corner to get in. I’d call it a Louisiana/Creole restaurant as that’s is where it separates itself from standard BBQ joints.

Don't believe the negative reviews!! We stopped in to give it a shot and boy oh boy huge portions very delicious! The woman isn't rude she is a Russian woman who has a strong accent sometimes there are such things as language barriers ppl .. drop in and enjoy definitely try the red beans & rice the stroganoff the jambalaya! We ordered the 3 meat plate it was enormous!! Best smoked bbq I've had !!

This place is a little slice of heaven. It is a one of a kind restaurant with the best food and kindest owners. They work very hard and so many of their ingredients are local and fresh. Valentina makes her own honey, smokes her own fish, grows her own herbs and the dishes are made with love. If you come on open mic night, it is even more fun with music. This place is a treasure.

We really loved this place and will definitely be returning in the future. The (I'm assuming owner) was very kind and welcoming, the food was hot and fresh and all made from scratch. We ordered the 3 meat plate with brisket, tri-tip, ribs, Mac & cheese and potato salad. A gem in Monterey - especially so close to Cannery Row. On some nights they have live music from local artists and more. Don't hesitate to check out this great spot. )

Saturday night is a great time for dinner and music! Frida, an up and coming local singer, filled the restaurant with her songs: originals, covers, Spanish ballads, and yodeling! From 6-8, she performs and it was so beautiful!! The menu is also delicious. From Russian to BBQ, lots of options. The beet borscht was tasty. We also enjoyed the brisket! The hot tea is brewed from organic garden herbs. Variety of bar drinks, too!

We flew in from Boise a couple of days ago to visit family and after visiting Bon Ton last year we just had to come back and try some more of the delicious food, especially the smoked meats. Atmosphere is inviting and warm and once again the food was amazing. We had the Muffuletta and the made from scratch French toast. Next time we're back in Monterrey we'll definitely visit again.

Came in with a party of 5, ended up getting the family meal deal. We got the brisket, chicken and tri-tip. It was all fantastic, cooked perfectly. Valentina was very friendly and gave us an amazing experience. You can tell that she and her family have gone out of their way to make this restaurant a superb barbecue place. They took the hard times that the pandemic hit all restaurants and turned it into a very loving type of experience. Will definitely remember this experience and want to come back whenever I’m in Monterey.
